When you sign up, you have to learn a chosen piece and the basic scales to perform for the judges. Later that day, the results would be posted on their website. When you make it, there is a concert in mid-March. In Band there was Gianna Bertelli, on flute, and Samuel Schroeder,on tenor saxophone. They both made it in. In Orchestra, there was Paris Maldonado and Sadie Cotler, both on violin, Abigail Zeik, on violin as well, and Megan Zeik, on cello. At the high school, 9th graders Olivia Rubino and Samantha Watson on violin and Anna Rubino on viola tried out. Paris, Sadie, Abigail, Olivia, and Anna all made it in too. We wish the best of luck for the kids that made it in. This year we have had some new arrivals at our school. But not just students-staff too. We have Mr. Park, the 7th grade Social Studies teacher, Mr. Putnam, the new chorus teacher, and replacement to Mrs. Ross, and Mr.O'Dell, our new Design teacher. Let's welcome them into the school, and wish them good luck throughout the year. -Abby Z :) Top row- Mr. Park is fitting in with the students comfortably, and Mr. Putnam has made the first chorus concert of the year a success.
Middle row- Mr. O'Dell has been working on a mini Rube Goldberg machine with his students in the new Design class. Bottom row- More pictures of the Rube Goldberg project. On December 9th, the Orchestra will have their Winter Concert at 7 pm. Orchestra students are advised to come an hour early for warm-ups. Some of their pieces will include Russian Music Box, a Russian sounding Full Orchestra song, Bach Country Fiddles, a country spin on a classic Bach piece, Smoke on the Water, a String Ensemble rock song with a solo, and much more. There will also be solos, duets, and small groups preforming their music between songs. Some small groups include a viola duet, and 6th grade quartet, and many exciting solos. We wish good luck to the Orchestra, String Ensemble, and the very brave musicians stepping up to the stage to preform a small piece of music. Please come if possible, and Mrs. Moran and her group of young musicians will surely put on a fabulous night of strings. By Abby Z :) |
