Hopefully some of you got a chance to try out some of the bands that I recommended last time, and I hope you had liked them. I have a couple more bands, again all from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Inxs was an Australian rock band formed in 1977, consisting of Michael Hutchence, Jon Farriss, Tim Farriss, Andrew Farriss, Kirk Pengilly, and Gary Beers. The band performed for 20 years. They hit the height of their fame in the 80’s and 90’s. Michael died suddenly in 1997, and the band tried to replace him but ended up disbanding. I recommend their songs “Need You Tonight”, “Never Tear Us Apart”, and “Mystify”.
The Kinks were an English rock band formed in 1964, by two brothers, Ray and Dave Davies, and Pete Quaife, and Mick Avory. Many other musicians joined later, but these are the original four. They were regarded as one of the most influential rock bands of the past few decades. I recommend the songs “All Day, And All Of The Night”, written in 1964, “You Really Got Me”, also written in 1964, and “Waterloo Sunset”, written in 1967. Peter Gabriel started singing for Genesis starting in 1967, but left the band to go solo in 1975. He is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Genesis, and also as a solo artist. He is a champion of world music and a human rights activist. He received the Man of Peace award from the Nobel Peace Prize laureates in 2006. TIME magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2008. He wrote “Sledgehammer” in 1986, “In Your Eyes” from 1986 and “Games without Frontiers” from 1980 with Kate Bush., and “Solsbury Hill” in 1977. I hope you will like some of these songs, and explore more music from the 70’s, 80s and 90’s.
